Caged

In the endless roars, fade the cries,
Barely can I see fear in her eyes:
Like a flower floating on water,
Rootless, yet she stands.
Her son died few miles from the hospital:
Borders closed, no medication.
“He’s dying!” Begged she,
No one listened.
“He’s my only one”
Eyes shut.
“His father’s dead”
Ears closed:
“Leave, woman!”
His machine’s beep stopped
Little Adam died
While the officers were still questioning:
“Is this boy a terrorist or just a sick child?”
